Mr. D. Spielmaker

Bruce D. Spielmaker, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to a large and fiercely loving family, passed away Monday March 21, 2011 at home. He was 73. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue, as well as 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild: Daughter Heidi Spielmaker (Teresa Hardin) of Chicago; Son Daane (Sandy) Spielmaker of Ada, Alyssa Farnham (Chris), Madelyn Spielmaker; Son Kelly (Lisa) Spielmaker of Naples, Connor, Logan and Christian; Daughter Hope Mills of Sparta, Avery and Molly; Son Casey (Janice) Spielmaker of Grand Rapids, Lindsay (Jason) and Brock Madura, Cody, Lexie; Son Darby Spielmaker (Kristy) of Rockford, Nick, Kaylee; Son Brennan (Becky) Spielmaker of Grand Rapids, Ragan, Hayden. He is also survived by brothers Ron (Maria), Terry (Natalie), and Eric Spielmaker as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce had many passions and lived a full life. Mondays you could find him fishing the Thornapple River with Sue followed by Monday night football in "his chair"; Tuesdays watching Catholic Central basketball; Wednesdays possibly taking a quick trip to the casino; Thursdays at a grandchild's sporting event; Fridays at Houseman Field watching the Cougars; Saturdays at CMU, WMU or Notre Dame Stadium; and Sundays watching the NFL followed by a family grill out. He was a long time football coach and mentor to many at St. Thomas grade school ; a long time Catholic Central Booster and Board Member; and was proud of the many family friendships formed throughout the Catholic Central community. He was a professional musician, avid hunter, and dedicated fisherman, and he passed along these passions to all of his children. He was also a salesman extraordinaire. Bruce has a "New Beginning", he is now in "Mint Condition". "SETROVIA!" The family requests no flowers, but rather donations be made in Bruce's name to the Champ McCahill Cancer Fund. The family will receive guests at St. Roberts Church 6477 Ada Drive Ada, MI from 11:00 -1:00 pm Saturday March 26, scripture service promptly at 1:00 pm.
