Mildred Ruth Grygiel (Kamphouse)

Mildred Ruth “Micki” Grygiel (Kamphouse) age 90 of Grand Rapids went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday February 11, 2024. She now rejoins her husband and love of her life Walter; her daughter Debra Rencis; son Scot Grygiel and her infant grandson Brett. Micki will be deeply missed by her children Mitch Grygiel, Leonard Lane, Diane (Richard) Wood and Mary (Greg) Golembiewski; her son-in-law Arnie Rencis; her grandchildren Angela Marsh- Elkey, Scot Grygiel Jr., Sarah Winters, Spencer (Scott) Van Lente, Alexa (Matt) Clapp, Jessica (Justin) Goldman, Chloe (David) Asperheim, Ryan (Allison) Golembiewski, Tyler (Jodi) Golembiewski; her great grandchildren Ayla and Ayden Golembiewski, and Fitz Goldman; her sister-in-law June Kamphouse; several nieces and nephews. Micki was a strong and amazing mother who always put her family first. She had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh that she shared with everyone. Micki was a good and devoted friend. She loved animals, even having a pet goat as a child. Micki later collected goat figurines in memory of her beloved pet. Micki retired from John Brann’s Steakhouse after a long career serving her beloved customers. She loved “The Farm”, her family cottage, where she enjoyed fishing and preparing her famous bluegill dinners, and even just relaxing. Micki loved tending her gardens, either at home or at the cottage, she was happiest with her hands in the soil. One of Micki’s other passions was cooking, she made the best darn cinnamon rolls! She enjoyed taking long walks and soaking up the sun. Micki also was an accomplished artist and floral designer. Thank you for being the best Mom, Grandma and great Grandma! You will be dearly missed. “Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard, but always near, So loved, so missed, so very dear.” Her family will receive visitors Thursday February 15, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the New Community Church, 2340 Dean Lake Rd NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. The funeral service celebrating Micki’s life will be held Thursday February 15, 2024 immediately following the visitation. Interment will take place at Fairplains Cemetery. The family would like to thank The Oaks of Byron Center and Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
