Mrs. Kathleen Alice (Parks) Kross

Kathleen Alice (Parks) Kross, age 81, passed away June 21, 2015 at home with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard Raymond Joeseph (Krzyzanowski) Kross, her mother Wilfrida (Broadbent), her father Francis, and her sister Lois (La More). An active genealogist, Kathleen’s family tree is as vast as those she spent so many years studying. She knew the value of a detailed obit and got up and “danced around her chair” when she found one which was precise. Thus she leaves behind her daughter Renee (Buzzitta, Stutz) Kooiman (Marty) and Renee’s children Erica (Buzzitta) Schaidt (Brian), Michael Buzzitta (Kacie), and Deanna Stutz (Thomas Bridges) and children via marriage Jason Stutz and Ryan Stutz (Rachel), and Tom Kooiman. Kathleen also had a daughter by marriage Charlene (Krzyzanowski, Kross) Johnson (Thomas) and Charlene’s children Julie (Johnson) Enieck (Kurt), and Jeffery Johnson. Kathleen’s family tree continues branching off to many great grand-children: Evelyn, Noah (her back-seat buddy) and Matthew Schaidt, Alixandra and Clayton Buzzitta, Emma and Carter Bridges and Corbin and Landon Johnson. Kathleen is also survived by her brother Dennis Parks. Kathleen started her penchant for learning at Sheldon Elementary School, then attended South high School. In her 81 years Kathleen wore many hats. Early in life she worked a variety of jobs from assembly at Lear Siegler, to the candy counter at a dime store. She also worked at the Calendar Company. She eventually settled in as a book-keeper at Wursberg’s where she would meet her husband Richard, being a different era they could not work together so she then worked at Michigan National Bank. Throughout the years she also sold Avon, as well as being a homemaker. She and Richard then worked side by side delivering the Grand Rapids Press for more than 20 years before retiring in the early 90s. In her spare time she was an active member of the Western Michigan Genealogical Society for 19 years and alongside her husband was a member of the Wyoming Cultural Society. There wasn’t a technological advancement Kathleen wasn’t up to try from Q-bert on Atari to Guitar Hero on the Wii. From video games to Facebook games Kathleen kept rolling with the times. Give Kathleen a new notebook and pencil a new farm on Farmtown or a brickwall to crack in genealogy and she was home. Now she’s in her final home, once again side by side with her loving husband Richard as she was so often in life. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd. NW, where the family will receive visitors one hour prior. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
