Charlotte E Metzger

Charlotte E. Metzger was born in Grand Rapids. MI on January 30. 1923. aged 94. She was called to her heavenly home on April 5th. 2017. She was preceded in death by her loving friend. Alice Texer: her parents. Clarence and Ethel Metzger: her sister, Alyce Bronkema and her nephew, Dennis Bronkema. She is survived by her niece. Nancy Rupp (Bill): nephew, Mark Bronkema: great nieces, Tina Wong (Brandon), Danielle Jalacki (Chris), Chris Vandeweghe (Joe), and Becky Reed (Derek) along with several great-great nieces and nephews and cousins Earl Rabideau. David Rabideau, Lloyd Rabideau. Ellen Blinn, Emily Collins, and Nancy McCauley. Charlotte was an adventurous and determined woman who lived life to its fullest and did not allow others to get in her way. She enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 1, 1944 and was honorably discharged on June 25, 1947. Shortly following her service. She earned a single engine pilot license. Charlotte then began her thirty plus years of employment with General Motors where she worked in the Parts Department. This is where she met her lifelong companion, Alice Texer. Charlotte and Alice were very loving and selfless women who stepped in to help care for Charlotte's nephews. Dennis and Mark and niece, Nancy when Charlotte's sister, Alyce passed away as a young mother. Following retirement. Charlotte and Alice became long-term residents of Canadian Lakes. MI. Charlotte was an avid lover of the outdoors in which she often captured the richness of it in her beautiful paintings. She enjoyed boating, fishing along with ice fishing, golfing. snowmobiling, bird watching and various other outdoor activities. Charlotte was a lover of all animals, especially dogs. Even during the last remaining months of her life, she enjoyed playing with the various dogs that resided at her assisted living home. Lastly Charlotte enjoyed the casinos and especially loved it when her meal was comped. Cremation has already taken place and there will be no formal memorial service as these were all of Charlotte's wishes. An informal memorial celebration of Charlotte's life will take place at a future date. The family asks that memorial contributions please be made to The Humane Society. Also, the family would like to extend a large thank you to all of the caregivers at Sunrise of Cascade for their compassionate care they gave to Charlotte during her remaining months of life.
