Arnold John Courtade

Arnold John Courtade, loving husband, father, brother, and friend, left this world today at the age of 82. His life spanned November 24th 1932 through November 19th, 2015 and included five children and 60 years of marriage to his loving wife Norma (Musk). In addition, there have been added to his family 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Arnold was born and raised in the Fruit Ridge area of Western Michigan and left home to join the armed forces, where he served in the United States Coast Guard in the early 1950’s. Upon his return home, he married and started a family, and earned his living with General Motors while also operating his farm in Wright Township. Arnold retired from farming, and then from General Motors after 32 years. Arnold and Norma traveled extensively during the next 28 years, spending many winters is southern Texas and then in Michigan. Arnold loved spending time with his wife and family, riding motorcycles, reading, and simply knocking around the place looking for something to build. Arnold was never at a loss for things to keep him busy during retirement, and loved to work around the farm, where he also spent many hours restoring antique John Deere tractors with his eldest son Arnold John Jr. Arnold was preceded in death by his son Stephen A. Courtade, his brothers Emmett and Thomas Courtade, and his parents Martin and Olivia Courtade. Arnold is survived by his children Mr. Arnold J. Courtade Jr., Mr. Nicholas M. Courtade, Mrs. Gwen M. Hughes (Edward) and Mrs. Linda J. Courtade-Schutter (Keith). In addition, Arnold is survived by his brothers Floyd and Daniel Courtade, and also his two sisters Joyce Middleton (Richard) and Sr. Gladys Courtade SSND and several nieces and nephews. Arnold was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Church, Wright, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 10:30 am. He will repose at church one hour prior. Interment St. Joseph Wright Cemetery. His family will receive visitors Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance NW where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday 7:00 pm.
