Phyllis Frederick, age 78, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 after battling dementia. Born on May 13, 1943, Phyllis grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, daughter of the late Floyd and Jeanette (Limmer), Johnson. Phyllis was an LPN nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw and later at the Wege Clinic in Grand Rapids. She was a phlebotomist with both the Saginaw and Grand Rapids Blood Programs. In addition to her nursing, Phyllis loved volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and Kids Food Basket of Grand Rapids. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Phyllis was an avid reader, loved the tv show FRIENDS, enjoyed crafting and was an amazing seamstress, often making homemade gifts. She passed on to her children her love of celebrating the holidays and events with family. Phyllis spent much of her life at cottages both on Eight Point Lake and Hess Lake and delighted in time with friends and family. Phyllis moved to Grand Rapids, MI, in 1999 after marrying Roger Frederick. Together, they were part of a winning trivia group, loved going to the movies, traveling with friends, and spending time with family. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Jeannette Johnson and Floyd Stanley Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Coe and Kathryn Roberts; brother Dale Johnson; and special Uncle Tom and Aunt Suzy Frederick. Surviving are her husband, Roger Frederick, sister, Frances (Stan) Kozlowski, her children LeAnne (Michael Sdao) DiMartino; Jennifer (Rob) Monkiewicz; John (Holly) Lich; and Erin (Tim) Peraino; step-daughters Donielle Dubridge and Rachel (Mike) Decker; grandsons Nick, Evan, Noah, Blake, and Camden; granddaughters Rachel, Lauren, Hannah, and Zoe; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special lifelong friends Terry and Gary Adams. A special thank you to the staff at Emerald Meadows for the love and care given. The family will be receiving friends and loved ones Tuesday, December 14 from 2:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Arsulowicz Brothers Mortuary, 937 Michigan St. NE .
