Patrick John Kelley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Patrick John Kelley, age 62 of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 7, 2022. Pat will be lovingly remembered by his father, Robert Kelley and his mother, Marcia Gould, along with his siblings, Kathleen Heyrman, Michael (Amy) Kelley, Sean Kelley, Ryan (Jody) Kelley and Lucia (Richard) Thenikl. He also will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pat also had a special interest in all his nieces and nephews and never forgot to acknowledge their birthdays with a card. Pat was the oldest child in his family and always worked 100% at whatever he decided to do. He was a great athlete, holding the state record in the discus in 1978 and played on Grand Rapids Union’s Varsity football team for 3 years. Pat also enjoyed power lifting and boxing. Pat graduated from Union High School in 1978 and attended Grand Rapids Junior College. He worked at Roskam’s Bakery and Butternut Bakery for many years until the business closed. He then took his hard-working efforts to the Rockford Public Schools (RPS) as a custodian for several years. The RPS staff loved Pat and always commented on the wonderful job he did cleaning the buildings. Pat lived with his father, Bob, all his life and so they developed a special bond. They went on several trips together including Florida, San Diego and Las Vegas. Pat was also a big Notre Dame fan, going to several ND football games over the years with his father. Pat’s hobbies included golf, walking, avid reader and loved sports trivia. Pat was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church in Grand Rapids. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 23, 2022, at 10:00 am at SS Peter and Paul Church, 520 Myrtle Street NW, Grand Rapids. His family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Mass at Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Peter and Paul Church.
