Mrs. Mary M. Milanowski, age 79 of Grand Rapids, quietly passed at home surrounded by family Sunday July 26, 2020, due to complications from Alzheimer’s. She was born in Grand Rapids, to the late Chester and Margaret Hojnacki, on January 2, 1941. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mike. She is survived by: her loving husband of 44 years, Thomas; her children Mary Kay Tobin, James Daniel Geluso, Joseph A. Geluso and Brenda (Jim) Manning; grandchildren Ryan (Suzanne) Tobin, Rochele (Patrick) Duffy, Michael Geluso and Cameron Manning; great grandchildren Gavin Duffy, Olivia Duffy, Eva Jo Tobin and Miriam Tobin; her brother Dan (Marge) Hojnacki; and her sister-in-law Lynn Hojnacki. Mary was a lifelong resident of the West Side of Grand Rapids. She was very passionate and involved in politics as well as serving her community. She was a past member of the Grand Rapids School Board and the Regional Vice President of the American Hemerocallis (Daylily) Society. Mary loved to travel, having driven to Alaska twice with her husband as well as various trips throughout the Western US and to Europe. Her zest for life included bowling, golf, cards and challenging City Officials. Mary also loved spending time with the grandkids who will miss her dearly. The family will receive visitors Thursday July 30 from 4 to 7 PM at Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW. The graveside service will be held Friday July 31 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, where all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Holland.
