August 25, 1935 - October 19, 2021
LaVina “Dolly” Fabbro, age 86, went to be with the Lord on October 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Fabbro Sr., her parents: Bea and George Miller, sisters: Carol Russo and Judy Miller, infant great-grandchild: Anthony David Caruso, daughter-in-law: Rhonda Fabbro, and brother-in-law: Joseph Russo. She is survived by children: Deborah (Timothy) Pieri, Arthur Fabbro Jr., Matthew Fabbro and Chris Weaver, Mary Fabbro and Marc Frechette, Mark (Karen) Fabbro, Kimberly (Lee) Meyers, Andrew (Caroline) Fabbro, 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren with two more on the way, cousins, nieces, nephews, goddaughter: Marilyn Konwinski, and many close friends, especially Sally Norton whom she knew for 81 years. Dolly graduated from Catholic Central High School, class of 1953. She retired from the Kent County Health Department. One of Dolly’s most endearing qualities was her ability to bring people together. She is also known for never forgetting important dates in the lives of her loved ones. On (usually before) every birthday, anniversary or holiday one thing was certain: a card in the mail from Dolly. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and often spoiled them with candy and new toys. Gatherings with friends and family were always carefully documented with a photo (or ten) and let’s not forget handing out a new hand-knitted wash cloth to take home upon each visit. Dolly took pride in the beauty of her garden and spent hours carefully planting flowers with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She eagerly awaited visits from humming birds and squirrels and geese to come to her porch each summer day. Her love of Michigan Football was second to none (except for Arthur Sr.), a trait that she effectively passed down three generations. Her attendance record at St. Anthony remains blemish-free. All of these wonderful traits fail to speak to the person Dolly truly was. She was a kind and caring person who sometimes also liked to “tell it like it is” to anyone who would listen. She was and is loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church. There will be a rosary said at 9:30 am and a visitation an hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
