Joshua Fitzgerald Gooding Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joshua Fitzgerald Gooding, 32, passed away suddenly at home on January 5. Josh was passionate about fine food, especially when he prepared it himself, and his family will miss his culinary craft and experimentation. He also loved video games, music, and his four-legged family, Danton the Pug and Dupin the Cat. Josh had a unique sense of humor, irreverent at times and often esoteric, but most often, he loved a salty joke or innuendo. He fiercely loved his family and cherished family gatherings, the larger the better, so he could show his love through his cooking. He was a voracious reader and loved great literature, finding unexpected poetry in words. He could quote Cormac McCarthy from memory, and often did. Joshua was preceded in death by his father, John Gooding. He is survived by his mother, Janice Roberts, of Grand Rapids, sisters Heather Traxler of Lansing and Gina Fraser of Grand Rapids, brothers Wayne (Krista) Traxler of Nashville, MI and Anthony Traxler of Grand Rapids, beloved life partner Jamie Ruhling, nephew Colten Traxler, nieces Haily, Jill, and Eliza Traxler, and Evelyn Bryant. Josh was especially close to his aunt Marianne and Uncle Mick, of St. Louis MO. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW. Masks and social distancing will be required. A Family Only Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, this will be livestreamed on the Arsulowicz Brothers Mortuary website.
