    Helen Delores Szubinski (Brock)

    January 29, 1939 - January 27, 2022

    Helen Delores Szubinski (Brock), Co- Grand Marshal of the 2021 Pulaski Days Parade, third child of Peter and Eva (Ciecielski) Brock passed away in her sleep on Thursday morning January 27, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on the northwest side of Grand Rapids and attended St. Adalbert grade school, West Catholic and Mount Mercy High School, where she graduated the youngest in her class. She was an excellent accordion player who had her own Polka Band, the Hi- Notes. She played at many weddings and parties throughout Western Michigan. Helen met her husband in her senior year of high school and married a year and a half later. They were married for 64 ½ years. Together they raised seven children; Theresa Barck, Michael, David, Kathleen (Kenneth) Swain, Norma Vachon (fiance' Dale Peplinski), Chris (David) Laug, and Donald (Carla), fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and another one on the way. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law; Stanley (Margaret), Richard (Margaret), Maryanne Brock and Bonnie Brock, sister Theresa Brock, son-in-law, Curtis Barck and daughter-in- law Carolyn Szubinski, granddaughter Mary Christa . Left behind to grieve are her loving husband Norman, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers; Robert Brock, Peter (Mary) Brock, brother-in-law Roger (Marilyn) Szubinski, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a special friend Virginia Jenison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday February 1, 2022, 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 2510 Richmond St NW, celebrant Fr. Mark Przybysz. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Her family will receive visitors Monday January 31, 2022, from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW and Tuesday one hour prior to the Mass at church. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Carmelite Monastery of our Lady of Guadalupe, 4300 Mt. Carmel Drive NE Ada MI 49301.
