Gerald Joseph Kennedy Jr.
September 23, 1931 - February 8, 2021
Gerald Kennedy Jr., 89 years young, passed away Monday February 8th, 2021. Jerry was a Naval Vet having served his country aboard both of the carriers USS Coral Sea and USS Oriskany during the Korean Conflict era. He was happily married to his loving wife Marcia, enjoying a 69-plus year honeymoon. They had three children Susan (Garry) Zawacki, Mike (Loree) Kennedy and Lori (Dave Harman) Kennedy. Besides his immediate family, Dad is survived by a sister Rosalie, brother Patrick and their families. Brother Tom and sister Charlene are already waiting for him in heaven along with the rest of the clan. There are many grandkids, great grandkids, and nieces and nephews. You know who you are and he loved you all very much. Dad was a businessman, first with a supply company, retiring then getting involved with a garage door company. He was always looking for that next project. As Dad’s vision declined, mom became his eyes learning way more than she wanted about engines, pumps, chainsaws and the Dixie Gun Catalog. Jerry and Marcia spent many winter months at the place in Florida. Dad was an avid sportsman, pilot, golfer and all around tree planter. He was a life member of Madison Square Sportsmen’s Club and part of the founding of a very successful Trap and Skeet Winter League. He was a director for many years of the Michigan Amateur Trapshooting Association. There will be no visitation at this time. Cremation has taken place. A family Mass will be celebrated at a later date. You know anybody can be a father. It takes a special guy to be a DAD. Papa Kennedy was definitely all that! So raise a glass to the Old Man and all the other Dads out there! Ya gotta love ‘em! We would like to thank the folks at Faith Hospice for their help and Arsulowicz Brothers Mortuary for being the class operation they are. Donations are asked to go to the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 456 Cherry St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
