Evelyn Agnes Klimek (Van Beekom) “Oma Eve” to everyone in her life. Mom was born in Tjimahi, Indonesia April 10, 1927 and on June 30, 2020 went peacefully into the arms of Jesus. The fourth of 13 children, born to Anton K. E. and Berendina W. (Emke) Van Beekom. After WWII, she, her husband Henry and son, Erik sailed to the Netherlands. There the family grew adding Walter, Menno and Patricia. In 1957 they immigrated to the West Side of Grand Rapids, where she raised her family and had an amazing life. The best Indonesian cook and hostess ever and even a better wife, mother, Oma and friend. She loved sports, cheering for all the Michigan teams, and playing racquetball into her 70’s. Eve loved to swim and play badminton. She also crocheted many, many towels that she loved to gift to others. She loved her numbers by supporting the Michigan Lotto and watching the Game Show Network. Her famous words “Niet te veel” will always be remembered. Preceded in death by her Husband Henry K. and siblings, Karel, Reny, Lulu, and Anton Van Beekom, Berendina Pieters, Hetty DeVries and Lucky Van Beekom. Eve will be missed and remembered by her children, Erik & Sally (Ward), Walter & Toni (Morefield), Menno & Janice (Sowa) Patricia & David Lesinski. Grandchildren, Nannette Zant, Ryan & Grace Klimek, Dane Klimek, Mathew & Felicia Klimek, Joseph Klimek, Nicholas & Jennifer Lesinski and Amysue Lesinski. 16 great grandchildren and one great great. By her brothers Freddy & Veronica, Willie and Benny & Rene Van Beekom and sisters, Elsje Kohl and Sonja Loth, sister’s -in-law Joyce, Linda, Wendy and Tina Van Beekom. Many nieces and nephews worldwide. Per her request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service is planned for August 5, 2020, 1:00 PM at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. To honor Oma Eve, in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Anthony Church, Trillium Hospice or a charity of your choice.
