Daniel Lee Peck, age 59, lost his courageous 3 year battle with terminal cancer on January 4. He was preceeded in death by his parents Robert and Eloise (Molbey) Peck. Dan was the youngest of their 5 children and was very close with his sisters Lynn (Peck) Collins and Cheryl Peck. He is survived by his loving wife Felicia (Makower). Dan was born in Coldwater, MI . He endured a very difficult childhood after losing his mother at an early age. This adversity had a profound effect in molding Dan into a self reliant, successful man, driven to follow his interests and passions while never forgetting his history. Dan pursued formal culinary training as an adolescent and further developed his skills by working with several prominent chefs. He developed a passion for upscale gourmet food preparation and service and expanded into the broader field of hospitality. He was recruited to the preopening team of 2 new casinos where he developed state of the art purchasing and warehousing operations. His unique experience and skills were highly respected and sought after in the hospitality industry and his career lent such expertise to not only restaurants and casinos, but also hotels and free standing venues . Dan, both personally and professionally, was foremost a people person. His sharp wit, generous laughter and pleasant disposition always left others with a smile. He developed many lasting and treasured relationships and was always eager to assist and help others in his industry to succeed. Dan and Felicia spent 32 years together and were devoted to each other and their numerous 4 legged family members over those years. They truly did everything together; be it work, remodeling their 7 homes in and out, entertaining (which was always a big production), dining out and spending quality time at home. Felicia strongly appreciates the support he received after his diagnosis through his final weeks. Excellence and compassion were the hallmarks of his cancer team at University of Chicago Medical Center and later at Lemmen-Holton in Grand Rapids. Extraordinary support and care are also recognized from his private caregivers, Alyssa and Cheryl of Careology and his hospice nurse, Louise Jones, RN from Spectrum Hospice. Dan will be deeply missed by his family and friends who loved and admired him. He will be remembered for his courageous spirit, unstoppable energy, loving attention, generosity and the smiles he brought to all of us. Sadly, his family regrets the limits placed on memorial services because of the pandemic. There will be a gathering planned for his friends to celebrate the life he so well lived once the pandemic subsides. Memorial contributions in Dan’s honor may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) ( www.lls.org ) and the Humane Society of West Michigan ( www.hswestmi.org ).
