Courtney "Corey" Barnes (Schutte) Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Courtney “Corey” Barnes (Schutte) age 47 of Allendale passed away on Thursday May 19, 2022. Courtney was preceded in death by her father Dave Schutte and step father Tom Alt. She will be deeply missed by her children Kaylee & Isaac Barnes, boyfriend Shane Morse, mother Cynthia Alt, brother Aaron (Amarylis) Schutte, sister Lindsey (Jeff) Powers, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews, her LBC family & many friends. She will also be missed by her two dogs, Pronto & Lucky Bear. Courtney is a graduate of West Catholic, earned her Bachelor of Science from Aquinas College and continued on with her Nursing degree from Grand Valley State University. She spent many years as an ER nurse, then continued her education, earning her MBA from Baker College. She used her nursing experience and formal education to become a Lead Clinical Data Specialist with Spectrum Health. She was a renowned research partner in the study of cancer, being published in various medical journals. She saved many lives not only as a nurse, but through her love of statistics and science as well. Corey had many lifelong friends. She loved spending time with her big family in Grand Haven & over Thanksgiving. She enjoyed working with her flowers, traveling & relaxing in the sun. She was always cheering her kids on at sporting events, cracking jokes, and was the life of the party wherever there was a dance floor. Corey was a loving mother, so proud of her K-Bird & Bubs and all of their accomplishments & independence. We know you’re in a better place, pain-free, with an endless supply of Diet Coke. Visitation will be on Monday, May 23 from 5:00 -7:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony on Tuesday, May 24 at 11:00 am where her family will receive visitors one hour prior with a luncheon to follow.
