Carl Eugene Engel, age 90, went to be with His Lord and Savior, Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Delphine Marie (Ciolkowski) Engel. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Carla Engel Ludwig (John), son, Kevin Carl Engel (Cindy) and daughter, Dr. Michelle Engel Sanborn (Kurt). His greatest joy in life was spending time with his eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters, Arlene (Leonard) Michalski, Sylvia (Leo) Sochacki and Carol (Larry) Stys. Carl and his wife, Delphine, met when they were nine years old. For him, it was love at first sight. Before becoming her partner in life, he was her partner in dance. He graduated from Wayne State University with a pharmacy degree. One of the best aspects of his job as a pharmacist was the opportunity to help and educate his customers, who trusted him immensely. After his wife’s passing, Carl split his time with his two daughters. He enjoyed Traverse City summer weekends and playing trivia year-round. His travels visiting children, grandchildren and great grandchildren took him to Oklahoma, Texas, and Kentucky. All who knew him called him a gentleman. Per his wish, cremation has taken place and a celebration will be held later this summer.
