    Mr. Carl E. "Red" Burns

    September 14, 1929 - April 3, 2022

    Mr. Carl E. “Red” Burns age 92 of Grand Rapids, Veteran of the Korean War went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 3, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Dolora Burns (Brown), children; Diane (Larry ) Reiffer, Richard (Jane) Burns, Thomas (Mary) Burns, Patricia Burns, Charles (Sheryl) Burns, Mary (Joe) Rasch, Sharon (Jeff) Pouba, James Burns; 27 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; his sisters Margaret Ann Bunce and Marilyn Irwin; sisters in law Rita Burns and Geraldine Brown; brother in law Ray Rau; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson Brian Reiffer; brothers Emmett (Mary) Burns, Edward (Barbara) Burns, Dennis (Ruth) Burns, Donald Burns; sisters Rose (Roy) Darling. Carl was the former owner of Burns Brothers Produce Inc. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 47 and the Knights of Columbus Council # 3104 along with the Grand Rapids Elks Lodge # 48 and the Casino Club. His hobbies included golf, bowling, playing cards, enjoying his time with family and friends at the K of C, especially spending his time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren at the family pool. Carl spent many years wintering with his wife in Gulf Shores and then in South Texas. Carl was a long time member of St. Anthony of Padua Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 8 at 11:00 am where he will repose one hour prior to the Mass. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. His family will receive visitors Thursday April 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Road NW where the Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 8:00 pm. The family would like to thank the nurses and team members for their care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Palliative Care.
