William Phillip Messock

William Phillip Messock, went to be with the Lord on December 17th, 2024. Bill was born on February 17th, 1930 in Grand Rapids, MI, a member of St. Joseph and Holy Spirit Parish. Bill is survived by his loving devoted wife Patricia Messock (Leo). He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Ann Messock, his parents John J. and Helen Messock, brothers John (Jacqueline) Messock and James Messock, his sisters Esther Messock, Dorothy (Paul) Shick and Helen E. Messock. In addition, he was preceded in death by his nephews David Messock, Steve Shick, and nephew by marriage Steve VandenBrink. He will be deeply missed by his children Michelle (Dave) Vlug, Patrick (Krista) Messock. His grandchildren Kailey (Austin) Porter, Alexis Vlug, Ryan, Tyler, Katelyn, Brady Messock; great grandchildren Zavier Sovis, Case, Payson and Cole Porter. As well as many nieces and nephews, Margaret and Harry Worst, Therese VandenBrink, Jackie Messock Jr., Kathy Shick and David, Lorraine and Mike Vogel, and many great-great nieces and nephews. Bill has been a resident of St. Ann's Home since 2022. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1949. He cared deeply about his religious faith. He loved the outdoors, could often be found hunting or fishing. He was also passionate about his baseball career, pitching for the Gashouse Gang at Rumsey Park, Catholic Central High School and finally for the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed outings to the Casinos, and any scratch off tickets he could get his hands on! He was also an avid golfer, playing on many church leagues over the years and ultimately as a long-time member of the Great Lakes Seniors Golf Association. Bill worked hard his whole life starting with Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, US Air Force, retiring from the US Postal Service in 1988. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. Ann's Home for his wonderful care the past few years, as well as the staff at Emmanuel Hospice. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 2:30 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he will repose one hour before the Mass. Visitation Thursday December 19th, 2024 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm with the Rosary prayed at 6:00 pm at Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to St. Ann's Home or Lori's Voice. Entombment will be in Graceland Mausoleum.
