William Roger Bott

William Roger Bott, age 89, of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. He was born at home on May 17, 1935 to Frank and Mabel Bott in Mayfield Township, MI. He often shared fond memories of growing up on the family’s centennial farm on Bott Road. He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in the village of Hannah. William moved to Grand Rapids when he was 18 to become an electrician for the city. He held this role for 38 years. He also was a member of the Army Reserves for six years. William met the love of his life, Nancy, at their mutual friends’ wedding in January of 1959. They were engaged by the summer of 1959 and married on June 18, 1960. William and Nancy would have been married for 65 years this June. They enjoyed taking trips to Sault Ste Marie, Petosky, and Traverse City. William loved snowmobiling, playing cards, and working in his yard. He always had an interesting newspaper article or a coin from his collection to share with his family and friends. He was an avid Harbor Freight shopper, and his family was the beneficiary of all the flashlights he purchased for a great deal. William was very dedicated to his family and his faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Owen Bott; sister, Carolyn; sisters-in-law, Shirley Tofferi and Donna Carrol; brothers-in-law, Roger Moomey, George Tofferi, and Bob Clocklin. William is remembered by his wife, Nancy; son, Mark (Michelle) Bott; grandchildren, Emily (Spencer) Olson and Alexander Bott; brothers, Frank Jr. (Marilyn) and Ronald (Agnes) Bott; sisters-in-law, Judy Bott, Peggy Clocklin, and Maryann Moomey; brother-in-law, Joe Wolf; many loving nieces and nephews; and his great grand dog, Rex. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday January 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by Father Tony Pelak, 2510 Richmond St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the Church. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School.
