Timothy J. Szczepanek

Our Beloved Brother, Timothy J. Szczepanek (SKUM2), age 58 of Riverview, FL, formerly of Grand Rapids, MI, quietly and peacefully walked through the doors of heaven to his eternal rest on October 13, 2023 in Riverview, FL. He is preceded in death by his mother Theresa Haylett (Czarnecki) (Szczepanek), his father Edmund Carl Szczepanek, and his brother Ed “Bomber” Szczepanek. He will forever be missed by his surviving family members who loved him dearly: his sister Laura M Szczepanek (Scott VanOostenDorp) from Forest Hills, MI; his brother Robert A Szczepanek from Wellston, MI; his nieces Kelsey Jo Lamoreaux, Kali and Kendyl Lamoreaux. Tim was a valued diesel mechanic who worked an extensive career in the diesel trucking industry, most recently for Martin Transportation in Florida. He could diagnose and fix anything from minor repairs to major issues on cars, motorcycles and golf carts. If it had an engine, he could fix it. He loved his job and was very talented. Tim moved to Florida because he hated working on vehicles in the snow and cold. In Michigan, he hung out with his buddies from the Sin City Bike Club, T-Bone and Brian Hall. He also worked at J&R Engineering with Zeek, a forever father figure and inspiration to him. Tim leaves behind best friends Ron Howard and Sheree Hochheiser, who were a part of his everyday life and will very deeply miss him. Tim had a devastating motorcycle accident in November 2022 that left him unable to walk and do the things he loved. Many people cared for him over the past year, especially Ron, Sheree, April, his sister Laura, Margie and Mike Pintek, and many others who absolutely loved him. You always were greeted at Tim’s “Bar” with a shot and an ice-cold beer. His favorite beer was Reds Apple. So many laughs and good times were had on that porch. Tim also loved the pool and was a daily face in the sun after work. He had a nickname for everyone that would make you laugh. He loved living in Hacienda Heights and had many neighbors who adored him. He also was an avid Spongebob fan. As a season passholder at Busch Gardens, Tim loved the roller coasters, and this was a must do when you came down to visit. We’re sure Timmy is up in heaven riding his Harley free from pain and able to walk, doing all the things he loved on earth. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday October 27 at Wesley Park UMC, 1150 32nd St SW Wyoming, MI. The visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A time of remembrance and luncheon will follow.
