Theresa Rose Kokx

Theresa Rose Kokx age 40 of Grand Rapids, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday February 9, 2024, after an unexpected medical emergency. She passed away surrounded in prayers by her three siblings and her parents. Theresa was a very talented and creative artist who gave the world her gift of painting, jewelry making, photography and cooking special meals for her family. She was a very proud graduate of Grand Rapids Community College where she earned her fine arts degree. She ran a successful business called the “Thorny Rose Art Gallery”. Theresa will be remembered for her unique bubbly personality and her ability to light up the room with color and creativity. She had a selfless giving spirit that made everyone smile. Theresa loved everyone with her whole heart and liked taking care of others. She loved art, music and life itself (With a lot of whipped cream on her coffee!). Theresa was the best aunt to her nephew Odyn and niece Nora. Despite having epilepsy she lived a determined and adventurous life (That sometimes challenged her family!). She was always there for her relatives and friends, especially cousins Maegan, Kaleigh and Ali, and her longtime friend Racheal Kozak and daughter Ava. She is survived by her loving parents Dave and Cindy; her caring brothers Steve and Jon; her dear sister Christine and her favorite brother-in-law Nick Markoski and their children Odyn and Nora; her grandmothers Dolores Kokx and Anne Shirley Yeo; her great uncle Norman Dykewicz; great aunt Evelyn Dykewicz; great uncle Butch and Nancy Jasinski; aunts and uncles Mike Kokx, Robert (Kris) Kokx, Godmother Mary (Phil) Carpenter, Lou (Mary) Yeo, Tom Yeo, Diane Yeo, Mary Beth (John) Corris, Ed (Lisa) Yeo, Ann (Brandon) Foley; many cousins and friendly neighbors on Richards Ave. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers Lawrence E. Yeo and Carl C. Kokx; great aunt Betsy Jasinski (Hank Levering); great uncle and aunt Ron and Sue Orlowski; great uncle and aunt Mike and Anne Jasinski; great uncle Dr. Richard Dykewicz; her Godfather David Yeo; cousins Andrew Jasinski, Rosemarie Compos and Eleanore Orlowski. Love and Miss You Already Theresa! Pray For Us. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday February 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Church. She will repose at the church one hour before the Mass. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday February 15, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW where the Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 7:30 pm. The family would like to thank the ICU Team at Trinity Health for their tremendous efforts and care shown to Theresa during her time there.
