Richard Allen Wozniak

Richard Allen Wozniak, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, after a long and beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to his family and country. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Richard was the son of Edward and Stephanie Wozniak. He grew up in a humble home, shaped by strong values and a deep respect for service, inspired in part by his father’s role as a law enforcement officer. These early lessons in integrity and duty would guide Richard throughout his life. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Richard served aboard the USS Hector during the Korean War. His time in the Navy left him with countless memories and stories, which he eagerly shared with anyone willing to listen. He spoke of his service with pride, gratitude, and often a bit of humor. Family was the true joy of Richard’s life. He was a loving father to the children he shared with his first wife, Gerry Wozniak—Charlene, Christine, Ross, and Rick. That joy only grew when he later welcomed three more children—Leeann, Kevin, and Brian—after marrying his beloved Phyllis Wozniak. Richard and Phyllis shared a deep and enduring love; she remained his “sweety” to the very end, and he never missed a chance to blow her a kiss. Richard adored being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He found delight in every laugh, hug, and moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered most for his warmth, humor, signature phrases, and his incredible ability to light up a room just by being in it. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Stephanie Wozniak; his first wife, Gerry Wozniak; and his brother, Dan Wozniak. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Wozniak; his brother Ron (Diane) Wozniak; his sister Mary-Anne Walker; his children Christine (Gary) Borger, Charlene Wassell-Wozniak, Rick Wozniak, Ross Wozniak, Leeann (Keith) Humphrey, Kevin (Ellie) Gall, and Brian (Kris) Gall; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him deeply. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary , 3525 Remembrance Rd NW in Walker, Michigan. Visitation will take place one hour prior, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Richard will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery following the service.
