Richard M. Elliott

Richard M Elliott decided to surprise his wife, Pam, in heaven for her birthday; he joined her the morning of June 27, 2025. We are certain his parents, Bob and Audrey Elliott (Holt), brother and sister-in-law Dave and Chris Elliott, brothers-in-law Marv Hall and Frank Ward, wife Pam (Gillies), stepdaughter, Liz Antonio, stepson, John Langenfeld, and more were all there to welcome him home. He is survived by his sisters Bev Hall (Marv), brother RD Elliott, Gloria Ward (Frank), son Edward Elliott, stepdaughters Karen Bulkowski (Wally) and Meg Langenfeld, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and so many more. Dick was born in Cheboygan, MI on January 31, 1939. He loved children and coaching. He spent over 20 years at St. Thomas the Apostle School as Athletic Director and girls' and boys' basketball coach. He beamed when former players would say "hi, Coach" to him, even years later. Dick loved sports of all kinds. You name it, we watched it, yes, including poker and bowling. He was a great football player in high school, an avid golfer, bowler, and more. He also loved westerns of all kinds, especially with John Wayne. Dick served in the Army in the motor pool. Later, he worked at Smith Industries in the Print Shop. And he loved helping Harry and the team at Bill's Family Restaurant. It's there where Pam fell for his amazing blue eyes, cute legs, engaging wit (oh, how he made Pam giggle), and endearing heart. They were indeed soulmates. He finally had to retire from the restaurant about a month ago because cancer stinks. Dick never met a sweet he didn't like, especially doughnuts, Junior Mints, licorice, strawberry shortcake, and pies. He also enjoyed odd things like bologna, pickled eggs, and tuna sandwich with mustard. He loved making birdhouses, doing home projects, making fudge, and winning at the casino. If you needed anything, Dick was there with whatever he could do. And he was a fighter. He never gave up. He made us laugh. He made us safe. He was our friend. Here's to his big heart, to his laughter and teasing, here's to his warm hugs and hand holding, and here's to his encouragement to do better and be stronger. Here's to Dick Elliott; he will be greatly missed. We love you, Gramps. The visitation will be on Monday, July 7, from 1-3 pm at Arsulowicz Brothers Mortuaries, located at 937 Michigan St NE. The service will be followed by a gathering at Bill's Family Restaurant located at 1235 Michigan St NE. Please join us to share stories and say goodbye to this amazing man.
