Paul Edward Strodtbeck

Paul Edward Strodtbeck, 81, unexpectedly passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, April 14, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born on February 5, 1944 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Paul William and Rose Lee (Faulkner) Strodtbeck. He married his loving wife, Lynn (Saugstad) Strodtbeck, on June 26, 1982. Paul is survived by his wife Lynn Strodtbeck; children Rich (Tami) Strodtbeck, Cheryl (Rich) Gordon, Wayne (Kasey) Thoreson, Shari (Greg) Wiersma, Charlene (Scott Kenniston) Larsen, and Lori (Scott) Rush; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Bob (Janice) Strodtbeck and brother-in-law Jerry Rice; many nieces and nephews, countless friends, and his best furry friend Odie who he called “Odie boy.” He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Bonnie Rice and Jane Glupker, and brother-in-law Gary Glupker. Paul was a very driven, loyal, and long-time employee of Meijer for 56 years, with the first ten years as a butcher and the remaining 46 years as a truck driver. He was the face of Meijer in advertisements as they were opening new stores in the UP, and he drove the first Meijer truck across the Mackinac bridge to deliver bicycles for a charity event, which he continued to do for several years. He also enjoyed working part-time for many years as a butcher during deer hunting seasons. Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was known for his great sense of humor, sarcasm, charm, and contagious laugh. He would do anything he could to help others. He made and kept many close friends over the years. Anyone who knew him knew he had a passion for snowmobiling and working on and restoring snowmobiles. Every fall he patiently (or not so patiently) waited in anticipation of the first snow so he and his snowmobiling buddies could start planning their many snowmobile trips for the upcoming winter season, most of which were in the UP and some in Canada. Paul also enjoyed his many toys over the years including campers, boats, and motorcycles. A funeral to celebrate Paul’s life will be Monday, April 21, 2025, with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. and the service at 1 p.m. at Arsulowicz Brothers’ Mortuaries, Remembrance Chapel, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW, Walker, MI 49534. A luncheon will follow the service at Walker Ice & Fitness, 4151 Remembrance Rd NW, Walker, MI 49534. Memorials may be made in Paul’s name to West Michigan Humane Society in Walker, Michigan.
