Mr. Patrick Jay Doty

Mr. Patrick Jay Doty age 43, of Grand Rapids Michigan passed away unexpectedly on March 27th 2024. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Jeremy James Doty, his Uncle Ted Totoraitis, his Uncle Scott Doty, his Uncle Jerry Spencer, and cousin Teddy Totoraitis. Patrick is survived by his parents, Patrick and Susan Doty, his daughter Isabella, his son Tristan, his sister Amanda Doubblestien and her children his niece Jasmin, his niece Kylee, and his nephew Connor, his great nephew Sawyer James, grandparents Ray and Shirley Doty and Sharon Spencer, several Aunts, Uncles, and many cousins. A private family service will be held at a later date. All who knew Patrick Jay Doty could attest to his fierce love of his family. Patrick cherished the time he spent with his family out on the water fishing, boating, and biking on The Dragon Trail. Patrick had a special way of treating all people with kindness and was accepting of people from all walks of life. Nothing made him happier than sharing in the success of others and surrounding himself with friends and family. Gone too soon Patrick will be deeply missed and his wonderful collection of memories will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever. On May 31st 1980 Patrick and Susan (Wright) Doty welcomed home their newborn baby twin boys Patrick Jay and Jeremy James, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This birth brought great joy into the hearts of their loving parents and family. Later the family welcomed home their baby sister Amanda Sue. The beginning of Patrick's life involved several moves between Nashville and Wyoming Michigan before they settled into their family home on 8th avenue in Marne in 1984. No matter where he landed Patrick was always a very content and happy baby. He attended local schools beginning at Marne elementary. Active and on the go he played little league and participated in boy scouts. During his time in school Patrick found interest in music and played the drums in the junior high band and then moved on to the high school marching band. He was a proud member of the class of 1998 from Kenowa Hills High School. Patrick went to the skill center for industrial electricity. He was an apprentice electrician at Feyen and Zylstra for a while. Patrick then moved to Florida and did yard, garden, and heavy equipment work. When returning to Michigan he went back to school and earned degrees in CNC operations. For the last 15 years he had worked as a CNC programmer and operator. He worked for Accelerated Tooling in Grand Rapids and most recently he worked for Specialty Tool and Mold. Patrick had a wide variety of special interests. Self-motivated as well as independent he taught himself many talents over the years. He loved to cook and he loved even more to share what he cooked or baked with others. He was learning to play the guitar by watching videos just like his brother Jeremy did. One of his prized possessions was Jeremy's guitar. He loved flying drones even though he crashed or lost them on occasion. He also loved his two kitties Richie and Sassy. When it came to physical exercise Patrick loved mountain biking with family and friends on The Dragon Trail along the Hardy Dam near his parents home. He loved to fish always hoping to catch that lunker. He found his peace among family and friends as well as walking, running, and biking around the trails in town near where he lived. Recently he was attending The Seventh-Day Adventist Church where he was baptized. He was grateful for his support and work in AA managing his addictions. Patrick's strong faith and belief in God gave him hope and grounded him in his sobriety. Patrick was the kind of person that would give the shirt off his back to help others. Willing to lend a listening ear, shoulder to cry on, or a joke or comment to end in laughter were the many gifts he gave over the years. Patrick was a devoted friend, loving son, helpful brother, and a fun Uncle. His presence among his special friends and family will be deeply missed. May they lean on the special moments he leaves behind and may his memories be eternal. We look forward to the day we are all reunited in Heaven.
