Pamela Green Schader

On October 3, 2023, Pamela Green Schader transcended this vale of tears into radiance, passing peacefully, although unexpectedly, during an afternoon nap. Born January 18, 1952 in Pontiac, MI, she is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 40 years, Robert, their precious daughter, Skye Tiffany, her sister Karen Wrbelis, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a beloved extended family that she connected with later in life through DNA testing. Pamela was truly one of a kind, and her passion was performance. In the prime of her life she fronted two local rock bands: The Ira Mayor Band and Suspect, and in later years she found joy in performing karaoke, even traveling to Las Vegas to compete nationally. She had a powerhouse voice and a mighty stage presence, despite being just 5’2”. She also greatly enjoyed theatre, having acted in plays as a young woman (her first at just age 5!) and later fulfilling her dreams to see shows on Broadway and The West End in London. Pamela also had a gentle, generous nature, which was highlighted in the overwhelming number of children she’d adopt to provide Christmas presents for through the Angel Tree network, and in her consistent efforts to financially support various animal rescues (her latest favorite was a donkey sanctuary.) Her selfless advocacy and volunteer work with Hospice during the AIDS crisis was yet another reflection of Pamela’s tremendous capacity to love, and to give. She greatly enjoyed the simple things, such as a good television program, a happy pup on her lap, or the camaraderie of dining out - where she would delight in repeating the same old jokes she’s told for at least 30 years! If only we could hear them one more time. It must have been a blessed reunion at the Rainbow Bridge to once again see Wolf, Chloe, Tasha, Roxanne, Zen, Buddy, and Nibbles. Now you walk among them, with no more debilitating knee pain, smelling the lilacs and bathing in the most magnificent shades of endless lavender skies. In lieu of flowers, Pamela long wished for contributions to a local no-kill animal shelter, such as Michele’s Rescue, Crash’s Landing, Fig & Friends, or Tyson’s Place. In more recent years, Pamela had expressed a desire for Green Burial, which we will fulfill, and we appreciate anyone who takes this opportunity to learn more about the concept. We will convene on Saturday, October 14 at Saint George Peter & Paul’s Aid Society on Quarry Ave from 4pm-7pm, with an open mic jam to follow. If you feel so inclined, please bring a dish to pass, memories to share, and the vigor for live music as we celebrate Pamela’s legacy into the evening. As her last social media post so intuitively declared: “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”
