Nancy Ann Korreck

Nancy Ann Korreck, 71, died this past Tuesday, completing a journey that began as a tiny adoptee and grew into a life that was often challenging yet filled with adventures large and small. Bed-ridden her last few years, Nancy never stopped dreaming of better things ahead. Raised by Raymond and Ruth Korreck, Nancy attended Aberdeen Elementary School, Blessed Sacrament Grade School, and Creston High School, graduating in 1973. She worked briefly for Montgomery Ward, then with the Cutler Company making baby clothes, and finally with CompuLit in computer document management. Later she worked as a full-time volunteer for a family services agency. Nancy loved to travel, most often with her mother and faithful dog. Northern Michigan and the Smoky Mountains were among her favorite places to visit. She enjoyed painting ceramics and was a talented knitter who produced colorful blankets for family members. She was a better than average bowler who won trophies for her team and herself. Nancy was a big fan of vintage base ball. She rarely missed a game, even making a special trip to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. She was the family historian and kept up-to-date records of family members and their whereabouts. Last but not least, Nancy was a master dog whisperer—any relative or friend with a dog always knew when Nancy was at the door because their dogs went crazy waiting for her to come in and give them attention. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Ruth; by uncles Roy Blink and Jack Maher; by cousin Martin Blink. She is survived by her brother, G.F. Korreck (Victoria Hudson Korreck); by her nephew, Jacob Korreck; by her nieces, Whitney Posthumus (David) and Quinn Korreck; by grand niece Evelyn Posthumus and grand nephew Darren Posthumus; by aunt Beverly Maher; by cousins Larry Maher (Jeanne), Lori Maher, and Jim Blink. And by many second and third cousins. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, at the Arsulowicz Brothers East Mortuary 937 Michigan Street NE at 11 a.m. The family will meet visitors from 10 to 11. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make a donation in Nancy's name to the Humane Society.
