Nancy Jean Heyboer (Opple)

Nancy Jean Heyboer (Opple), a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 4, 1948, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of Henrietta and Haskell Opple. Nancy's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her dedication to her community. She graduated from Grandville High School in 1966 and earned her LPN degree from Grand Rapids Junior College in 1968. Her compassionate nature led her to a fulfilling career in pediatric healthcare. Nancy held various nursing roles at Zeeland Hospital, Butterworth Hospital, private practice doctor’s offices, and specialty clinics. She finished her nursing career at Spectrum Hospital. Nancy also ran her own daycare, providing a nurturing environment for the children in her care. On September 12, 1970, Nancy married the love of her life, Martin Peter Heyboer Jr. Together, they raised three wonderful sons: Martin Heyboer III (Sue), Jason Heyboer (Christina), and Sean Heyboer (Jennifer). Nancy took immense pride in her family, and her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jordan, Hayleigh, Maria, Martin (Pete) IV, Jason II, Emmette, and Lennon. She was their biggest supporter, always present at their sporting events, music performances, and theater productions, celebrating their achievements with joy and enthusiasm. Being a lifelong Bulldog, she loved Grandville Football and will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies she baked for the team when the boys played well. As a member of St. Pius Church in Grandville and St. James in Grand Rapids, Nancy was heavily involved in her faith community. She taught special education religion classes and served as a mass lector, sharing her love for God and her commitment to helping others. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and her spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers David (Alice) Opple and Ken (Irene) Opple, and her sister-in-law Esther (Dick) Burman. She is survived by her brother Tom (Mary) Opple, sister Lois (Gary) Tasior, and sister in law Marlene (Robert) Jackson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday August 15 2025 at 11:00 am at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW. Her family will receive visitors on Thursday August 14, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home and Friday August 15, 2025 from 10:00 am -11:00 prior to the service. In honor of Nancy's compassionate spirit, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or Faith Hospice. These organizations reflect her dedication to caring for others. Nancy Jean Heyboer leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to family and community. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
