Mrs. Catherine Nulty (Bresnahan)

NULTY (BRESNAHAN) Mrs. Frances Catherine Nulty (Bresnahan) 91 yrs. of age, passed away December 6, 2011, at St. Ann's Home, Grand Rapids. Born in Grand Rapids on March 4, 1920 to Katherine (Kitty) Schaefer and John (Cass) Bresnahan she remained in Grand Rapids the majority of her life where she married, and raised her family, before moving to Canadian Lakes, Mi in 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, six brothers, John (Roger), Joseph, Robert, Thomas, Richard, Donald, and one sister Patricia Vance. She is survived by one sister and friend Mary Schulte of Fort Wayne, Ind., one brother-in-law William Vance, of Bonita Springs, Florida, and one sister-in-law Mary (Betty) Host of Grand Rapids. She was a graduate of Creston High School "Class of 1938", where she was involved in the Glee Club, Vice-President of the "All 'Round Club and other activities. She was raised in a large tight-knit Irish Catholic family filled with plenty of love, fun, and activity. She held so many fond memories of the Bresnahan's "summer home" at Silver Lake, where she could enjoy her favorite sports, that of swimming, and diving. Light and graceful on her feet, she took dance lessons over the years, and as a young woman had taken lessons from Betty Bloomer, who later became First Lady as the wife of President Gerald Ford. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William P. Nulty. They had five children, that she proudly raised with total love and dedication. Thomas (Marie) Nulty, James Nulty (Hugh Stephens), MaryJo (Jack) Terpstra, Patricia (Gary) Anderson, Jayne (Larry) Ulrich, grandchildren: John Nulty, Molly Bayles, James Nulty, Julie Finlayson, Patrick Nulty, Megan Bawcum, Laura Nulty, Colin Nulty, Jack Terpstra Jr. , Catherine Terpstra, and Kaylin Knowles. Several Great-Grandchildren, and three precious Great-great grandchildren. Many nephews and nieces, daughter-in-law, Gretchen Nulty, a cousin Helen Lily. A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Service will be celebrated Friday, December 9, 2011, at 10:30 am at St. Ann's Home Chapel where she will repose one hour prior to the Mass. The family will receive visitors Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd. where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 pm. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Ann's Home. A special thank you for her dignified Hospice Care, and much, much gratitude to the excellent staff at St. Ann's that truly became her extended family.
