Michael Charles Ziegler

Michael Charles Ziegler age 64 of Grand Rapids passed away on Tuesday October 8, 2024. Mike was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 16, 1960 to Grace and Dr. Robert Ziegler. The family then moved to Hancock, Michigan in the early 1970’s. His family called Hancock home from then on. Mike graduated from Hancock High School in 1978; he continued his education at Michigan Tech and later graduated from Central Michigan University in 1983. He then graduated from Grand Valley State University’s Physical Therapy Program in 1986. Mike practiced as a physical therapist for over 38 years. He worked for PPTS and Novacare before opening his own practice, Achieve Physical Therapy. Mike owned and operated Achieve Physical Therapy for over 10 years. His greatest joy was treating his patients and building lifelong relationships, which he was able to continue after joining Hulst-Jepsen Physical Therapy. Mike was an avid runner, starting in Junior High and continuing throughout the rest of his life. He ran the 25k River Bank Run for over 20 years but his favorite place to run was at the family cabin in Cheboygan, Michigan. Mike and his family spent all of their childhood summers on Mullett Lake, even working at Aloha State Park during his college summers, where he met and later married his wife Lori. He was proud to continue his Dad’s hope for the cabin to be enjoyed by generations, which now include his daughters and grandsons. Mike was a member of Polish Falcons and volunteered as a bartender on Tuesday nights. Mike will be deeply missed by his wife of 41 years Lori Ann Finn-Ziegler; his daughters Abby (Tyler) Erhorn and Meg (Joey) Boore; his precious grandsons Hudson and Brady; his siblings Sally Sletto (Fred), Dave (Dee) Ziegler, Dr. Jim (Julie) Ziegler; his brothers-in-law Mike (Rhonda) Finn and Patrick Finn; his sister-in-law Sue (Lenny) Shortino; lifelong “family” Kim and Adam Pfeffer; many nieces, nephews and loving friends. The Mass of Christian burial will celebrated Monday October 14, 2024 at 10:00 am at Holy Spirit Church where he will repose one hour before the Mass. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday October 13, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW where the Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation or Landtrust.org (Little Traverse Conservancy to support nature preservation on Mullett Lake).
