Martha (Winske) Mull

Pianist extraordinaire, Martha (Winske) Mull, age 93, loving mother of Linda (Pete) Patrick of Davison, Robert (Carol) Mull of Ann Arbor, William (Debra) Mull of Rockford and cherished grandmother of Emily (Dr. Chris) Trentacosta of Ann Arbor, Dr. Hillary Mull (Aron Boros) of Boston, Sara Patrick of Royal Oak, and Patrick (Aerien) Mull of Jacksonville, FL and four precious great-grandchildren, passed away at Stonebridge Manor June 21, 2015. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 24, 3:00-8:30 PM at Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd. The funeral will be Thursday, June 25 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Her nephews, Leo Houlmont and Gene DeWys will be officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Martha, a lifelong Walker resident, was born Dec. 16, 1921 on the west side of Grand Rapids. She was the sixth and last surviving child of Albert and Katherine (Balcerzak) Winske. Martha married Ira (Pete) Fraser Mull Feb. 21, 1946. He preceded her in death December 9, 2000 after almost 54 years of marriage. During Martha’s younger years she honed her skills at the piano, becoming an accomplished pianist and organist for events from weddings to funerals, and talent contests to city Christmas parties. She was the pianist at the Grand Rapids Penn Club during the 60s and 70s. Playing only “by ear,” she needed only a list of song titles. She shared her talent far and wide and was honored with a Distinguished Service Award from Zinser School. Most recently, she volunteered her musical gift twice a month at the Lacks Cancer Center. Martha was a lifelong faithful servant of the Lord and a devoted Bible Student of 75 years. She worked part time at Standale Interiors for a number of years, allowing time for golfing and bowling. She was a charter member and regular winner in both leagues. She truly enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home of 67 years and was a loyal University of Michigan sports fan. Her most recent days were spent at Stonebridge Manor where she continued to share her talent at the piano. Martha’s family especially appreciates devoted niece and nephew Dort Bishop and Dan Houlmont, brother-in-law Bob Mull, Helena Malinowski, Stonebridge-based Elaine Clark, and other loyal friends of Martha. The family also wants to thank the loving staff at Stonebridge Manor. Martha is also survived by loving brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Dorothy Mull, Jerry and Marilyn Mull and Nessa Mull. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Grand Rapids Associated Bible Students or the Stonebridge Family Terrace Project in care of the funeral home.
