Margaret Mary Roberts

Margaret Mary Roberts, 80, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on December 17, 2022, at 8 pm. “Margie” was born in Grand Rapids on September 15, 1942 to her loving parents, Clemens and Marie Krzykwa. Margie graduated from Creston High School. She had a secretary job and worked at the clothing store downtown. She loved to have the latest outfits and look nice. She sold facial products and wigs in her early days and Frank nicknamed her “wigs.” She had a group of friends that all hung around together and were invited over for Sunday Dinner at the Krzykwas. But, you better wear a nice collared shirt. Clem would always have beer warming on the register. Maggie May worked at Walter Hagen Golf for several years with her besties, Sandy, Sherry, Sharon, and Debbie to name a few. She thought of them like family. Margie met Franklin Neil Roberts as a teen and they were married in 1964. They had 4 beautiful children and sustained that marriage through fun and some challenging times. It was clear there was a lot of love, even at tough times. They taught their children love. She showed that love by attending all of the kids events in sports or school. She would cheer them on, loud and Polish proud. She and Frank golfed together in scrambles and on leagues. She loved to go Thursday night bowling and bowling and golfing for birthdays. Margie loved to attend parties, funerals, showers, weddings, dances, sporting events, basically any social gatherings, not to mention casinos, bingo, and karaoke. She attended every occasion she was ever invited to, if possible, and if you forgot to invite her you or somebody was going to hear about it. Even normal occasions were parties waiting to happen. She was very expressive in the faces she made and the way she would cry every time she heard Ave Maria. She never wanted anyone to be alone or unwanted, especially on Thanksgiving or Christmas. She bought her tenants Christmas gifts every year and any time she would see something she thought you needed, she would buy it for you. Mama loved to talk and talk and talk, hence the nickname “Jaws”. She never seemed to stop talking or going. She liked you to agree with her a lot of the times also. For a while, her favorite phrase was “Right, Aunt Marge”. She loved all her nieces and nephews so much. Family was very important to her. She loved everyone in their own way. She made a point to call everyone on their birthday to sing “Happy birthday”. Mom loved Christmas and caroling, especially with Santa Claus Girls and playing Reindeer games. She dearly missed Trace and whenever we saw a cardinal it meant Trace was watching over. She made a special bond with Cheryl and said she was her “special angel.” Grandma loved her grandkids and was always so proud of each of them. She loved to go watch their sporting events and concerts and dance recitals. She always said “their smarts come from me”. Early on she liked to play games like Sorry and Candyland and take grandkids golfing. She has been a Blessing to all of us and so many memories we cherish, and sometimes she could be a pain in the butt. She will forever be missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Franklin Neil Roberts. Sister-in laws; Gwen Krzykwa, Linda Steffes, and Pat (Walt) Jensen. Children; Franklin Jr. (Cheryl) Roberts, William Roberts, Jeanie (Raymond) Lahr, and Son-in-law; Timothy Moran. Grandchildren, Taylor, Turner, Frankie, Nick and Jake Roberts and Gianna Lahr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Clemens Krzykwa, daughter; Theresa Moran, Siblings; Ambrose (Peg) Krzykwa, Ange (Herman) Maxim, Jerome (Pat) Krzykwa, Larry (Nancy) Krzykwa, Richard Krzykwa, Dorothy (Jim) Chrisman, Stanley Krzykwa, Joseph Krzykwa, Rosie Adams, and 8 nieces and nephews. Her family will receive visitors Wednesday from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers East Mortuary, 937 Michigan St NE. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 8:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 am at St. Isidore Church where her family will receive visitors one hour prior. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
