Margaret M. Gire

Margaret (Margie) M. Gire, , 93, of Wyoming, Michigan, went home to her Heavenly Father, on Saturday, June 8. Margie was diagnosed with cancer in November, 2022, and sadly suffered numerous symptoms and passed away at the Commonwealth Senior Living Facility in Grand Rapids. Margie’s family and friends would like to express our deepest gratitude to Faith Hospice and Commonwealth Senior Living for their kind and loving care. Margie was born on October 11, 1930, the third of four children of John and Pearl Gire in Grand Rapids. She was predeceased in death by her parents, John and Pearl Gire, her brother and his wife, James and Mary Gire of Jackson, her brother David Gire of Wyoming, her sister, Sr. Barbara of Grand Rapids, and her niece Cathy Gire, Arvada, Co. She is survived by her sister-in-law Rose Gire of Kentwood, as well as nine nieces/nephews and their significant others, twenty-three great nieces/nephews and their significant others, and twenty-six great-great nieces and nephews. Margie will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful friend and neighbor, who after retirement, loved to travel the world with friends. Her career included numerous Catholic faith related positions, including twenty-five years as a cloistered Carmelite Nun. Margie attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Wyoming where she had previously worked in the pre-school and child care program. She was a devote Catholic, and expressed gratitude to the Parish Family of St John Vianney Catholic Church as they manifested their great love of God, and their neighbors, through kindness and generosity. Margie’s Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 17 at 11 A.M. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, MI 49509. Visitation will be at the church, just prior to the service, from 10 to 11 A.M. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the church. A burial service will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, located directly across the street from the church, starting at 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions can be made to Faith Hospice, @faithhospicecare.org.
