Marcia Jean Taylor

Marcia Jean Taylor shared her gift for beauty, creativity, and cooking with all who knew her, always putting her family above all else as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. On Monday March 17th, 2025, Marcia, passed away peacefully at her home in Walker, Michigan, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on the northwest of Grand Rapids to Richard and Jean Gersch and was the sister of Judy Kozminski. A 1956 graduate of Catholic Central High School, she met George Leroy Taylor when she was just 14 years old. The smitten couple married on June 30, 1956, in the Basilica of St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church. Marcia worked as bank teller at Old Kent Bank for over 30 years, where she formed lifelong friendships. Marcia’s warm and welcoming presence made everyone feel at home, always offering an extra seat at the table for anyone who stopped by. Her greatest passions in life were her family and travel. During her retirement, Marcia cherished spending time with her grandchildren and traveling throughout the United States and Europe with her husband, George, with Alaska being her most memorable trip. Marcia will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her son, Michael and wife Sue Taylor; daughter, Susie and husband Steve Gilbert; daughter, Judy and husband Randy Ford; and son, Steve and wife Shellie Taylor. She is also survived by many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Joy Taylor; Katy Taylor (daughters Ava and Beatrice and son Francis); David Taylor (son John); Leanna and Cory Palmer (daughter Annabelle); Daniel and Amanda Presley (son Colton and daughter Presleigh), Stevie Gilbert and Raelynn Strong-Gilbert (daughter Adrienne); HanaLi Gilbert and Nick Friedli; Russell and Samantha Ford (sons Vincent and Jackson); Taylor and Nicholas Brasch (sons Kevin and Xander); Justin Ford and Rhianna Sheesley; Anthony and Erika Taylor (daughter Charleigh); Chelsea and Kaden Kirtley (sons Thomas and Elias); Stephanie Taylor; Angela Taylor; George Taylor, and her loyal companion Bella. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Taylor; her sister, Judy Kozminski; and her pets, Josie and Mollie. On April 10, 2025, a visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by mass from 11:00 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a luncheon immediately after at the Basilica of St. Adalbert in Grand Rapids, MI. A private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery following the luncheon. The family will also celebrate George Taylor’s life as part of the funeral service, in accordance with Marcia Taylor’s wishes.
