Korey L. Taphouse

Korey L. Taphouse, 30, of Hudsonville, MI passed away Monday, November 28 from injuries sustained after he was struck by a vehicle in Georgetown Township. Korey is survived by his wife, Emily Taphouse (Friar), two daughters, Hazel (4) and June (2) Taphouse, father, Randy Taphouse, mother, Shelly Miller, sister, Randi Lynn Snyder, grandparents, Gene and Mary Taphouse, his wife’s parents, Steve and Deb Friar, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in passing by his brother, David Taphouse. Korey was born in Fort Riley, Kansas but spent his childhood years in the area surrounding Adrian, MI. He graduated from Onsted High School in 2005. He joined the Grand Rapids Harley Davidson team in 2007 and never looked back. Working for Harley was Korey’s dream, and he wanted to grow with the company that treated him like family. He started as a Service Writer and worked all the way up to Service Manager over the last 10 years, and his customer base grew right along with him. Korey’s passion for GRHD defined “above and beyond”. Korey was known to chase people down in the parking lot if he missed them in the shop just to make sure he said “hi”. People didn’t visit the Harley Dealership, they visited Korey so they could talk to their friend and maybe get some help with their bike if it came up. Most important to Korey were his beautiful wife and daughters. Korey met Emily in 2007. Someone once said “if you can make a woman laugh, you can make her do anything.” Korey made sure Emily never stopped laughing, and he got her to marry him June 4, 2011 in Grand Rapids, MI. The two additions of Hazel in 2012 and June in 2014 were Korey’s pride and joy. Korey had a smile and a spark in his eyes that is carried on through his daughters. One can see Korey’s charisma and charm shining through Hazel and Korey’s sense of wonder (and mischief) in spades with June. That incredible sense of humor is destined to be a part of both of them. Korey’s selflessness was evident in so many ways. Korey would be the guy who went to mow his lawn, and decided he might as well mow the whole neighborhood. His passion for giving lives on as he was part of the Gift of Life program. Because of his selflessness, his gifts have given five people a chance at continuing their lives. Korey’s legacy is filled with moments of love, determination, humor, and passion. All who met him are grateful for the blessing that his beautiful soul brought to this world. A Celebration of Life will be held at Frontline Community Church North Campus (4411 Plainfield Ave NE) on Thursday, December 8 at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
