Kevin Koonmen

Kevin Koonmen, 40, born January 1, 1982, died September 14, 2022. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John F. Marksberry, Pauline Marksberry, and Edward “Ned” Koonmen. He is survived by his wife Kimberly Koonmen, and four daughters, Edith, Madeline, Gwen, and Joan Koonmen, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brother Keith Koonmen (Emilia, daughter Claire), of Traverse City, Michigan; sister Leigh Anne Koonmen (Michael DeNotto), of Grand Rapids, Michigan; his parents Mark and Jamie Koonmen, of Fenton, Michigan; parents-in-law Scott and Teresa Palasek, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and many extended family and friends. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm on Monday, September 19th, 2022 at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Chapel, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW, Walker, Michigan. A showing will be held at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 151 Garfield Ave SW, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, who he affectionately called Toots. Nothing brought Kevin greater joy or pride than watching his daughters grow and develop into their incredible and uniquely individual personalities. He valued quality time with his family and spent much of his time connecting with those he loved through his passions. He would often use his grilling and smoking skills to gather his family and friends together for meals, the sounds of his favorite bluegrass music in the background. Kevin was an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman; passions he strove to instill in his daughters. He enjoyed being on the river with his father, brother, and uncle Rusty any chance he was able. He had a true thirst for life and enjoyed sharing his vision and dreams for the future with those he loved. He was a natural born problem solver. His ability to conceptualize and resolve any issue was unparalleled. Kevin was truly one of a kind and is deeply loved and missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his goofy dance moves, and his kind heart.
