Kenneth E. Heim, Jr. Beloved husband of 52 years to Betty. Devoted Father to Kevin Heim, Kelly Thurkettle, and DeJay (Kurt) Johnson. Loving Grandfather to Laura Johnson Morris, Matt (Kaitlin) Johnson, Mike Johnson, Joe (Claire) Johnson, Kodi Heim, Jacob Thurkettle, Alex Thurkettle, Chase Morris and Great Grandfather to Lincoln Morris, Hazel Morris, Tilia Johnson, Melody Heim, Desmond Johnson. Brother to Sandy Cudney and Pat (Dave) Joustra. Brother-in-law to Gloria & Bill Neal and Dianna & Jerry Edwards. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Jean (Mike) Neuhaus, brothers-in-law Lynn Cudney and Greg Bradford, best friend Gary Lofquist and special cousin Larry Babinski. Ken was a Sheet Metal Journeyman at Klanderman’s Sheet Metal and East Muskegon Sheet Metal. He was fortunate enough to retire early at age 55 and spent the next 30 years enjoying time with family and friends. As a second career for about seven years , Ken and a friend painted new homes for builders. For ten years he and Betty and their “Travel Buddies” had many fun-filled vacations together. Over the course of 20 years they were snowbirds at Fair Lane Acres in Bradenton, Florida. While there, Ken co-hosted numerous pancake breakfasts, ice cream socials, fish fries, and chicken dinners with his special friend Don Wackerle. Ken enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, traveling, bowling and winning at cards. He was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and served on Vestry and as Jr. Warden. Words cannot express the gratitude and thankfulness we feel towards the caring staff of Green Acres Standale and Hospice of Michigan during Ken’s final two months. A Celebration of Life for Ken will be held on Saturday, April 20 at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 1200 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI. Family and friends may gather at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service begins at 11:00, followed by a reception.
