Keith L. VanderVeen

Keith L. VanderVeen, 90, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and joyfully reunited with his mother, brother and “Bride” on June 3, 2023. Keith was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a magician with tools and had the ability to fix just about anything with his mechanical aptitude and persistence. He was always there to lend a neighbor or friend a helping hand whenever they needed it. A Grand Rapids, Mich., native, Keith graduated from South High School before entering the military during the Korean War. After service to his country, he attended Ferris State College. Most of Keith's working career was spent as a machinist at Burke Porter Machinery. He also was involved in real estate, where he purchased, remodeled and sold homes before moving to Eustis, Florida, with his wife, Betty, for their retirement. Keith loved hosting and entertaining friends and family and taking them on numerous adventures throughout the Sunshine State. His final years were spent in the loving care of staff and friends at Addington Place/Commonwealth Senior Living in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was preceded in death by his “Bride” of 42 years, Betty Lou, his mother and father, George and Lillian VanderVeen, and his older brother, Donald VanderVeen. Keith is survived by children Donald (Kathleen) VanderVeen, Kimberly (Dennis) Malone, Lori DeWitt, Scott (Brandi) VanderVeen, Cyndi Avina, Keith VanderVeen, Linda (Al) Roush, Lorrie Johnson, Lee Anne (Joel) Langlois, Leslie See and Walter (Leslie) Steil, along with 32 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Thursday June 8, 2023 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors Thursday June 8, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW. Interment to follow at Washington Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Addington Place/Commonwealth Senior Living, especially Sue for the care and compassion given to Keith. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
