Gerald "Jerry" Hallberg

The world lost an incredible man. He wasn’t famous, never in the spotlight, but anyone who truly knew him knows today they lost the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, and friend. He went through life in the background, observing everyone and everything going on, and occasionally giving the most hilarious comment in his sarcastic humor. He was totally devoted to Joni, his wife of 45 years, making sure she was ok, had what she needed, waiting for her to tell him what she wanted, and doing all in his power to give her that. Jerry was a true artist. He didn’t paint pictures, but he restored and painted cars with an attention to detail that made his creations top tier and sought after by buyers. He had his own shop for quite awhile, his “office”, and if you were lucky enough to know him and where this office was, he gladly gave you a tour of the incredible cars in his inventory, how he was restoring them, their history, and who their new owners would be - if it was a commission. Not many people would think this was a true art, but if you ever saw one of his cars, you would know instantly that it was. He is survived by his 2 children; daughter Jessica (Ryan) Wertsch and grandchildren Victoria and Gavin, Son Jacob Hallberg and granddaughter Taylor, Jake’s girlfriend Haley and her son Kyelar. Sister Julie (Mark) Blocher, sister Joni Hallberg “2”, and brothers Jimmy and Jason Hallberg. In-laws Jimmy Schmidt, Janet (Keith) Johnson, John (Theresa) Schmidt, Jeannie (Bob) Scribner, Jacky Schmidt, and Jerri (Doug) Larkin as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Phyllis and Ernie Hallberg, his brother Jayme Hallberg and sister Jean Baker, sister-in-law Kathi Schmidt. There will be a visitation for family and friends at Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW, on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a service being held at 4:00 PM. There will be a Celebration of Life at Casino Club immediately following the service at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his daughter’s non-profit, J’s Chemo Bags that provide comfort care bags to those undergoing chemotherapy treatments. www.jschemobag.org
