Gabino Amaya-Barrera

Gabino Barrera-Amaya (58) of Choloma, Cortes, Honduras, went to be with his Lord on April 7th 2024. He was a kind and easy going man who lived in the moment, by his own rules, but always found a way to prioritize the needs of his family, friends, and others even if they came before his own. Gabino was an attentive and kind father, brother, husband for many years, although, his most cherished role was that of grandfather, affectionately known as, LeLo to his four grandchildren Dylan, Liam, Nathan & Melany, whom he loved spending time with and being near. He came to Grand Rapids in 1989 and has lived here since. Gabino is survived by his two adult children, Seidy and Nahum. He is also survived by his siblings and extended family in Honduras. Aside from his deep love and devotion to Grandchildren and family, he had a profound appreciation for soccer, dancing, music, particularly salsa, bolero and bachata. He found ways to support his family in Honduras and took deep pride in selfless acts. Gabino's family will be hosting a memorial and celebration of his life at Arsulowicz Brother's Remembrance Chapel, April 11th 5-7pm, In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the family in the method that is most convenient to you. Era un hombre amable y tranquilo que vivía el momento, según sus propias reglas, pero siempre encontraba la manera para priorizar las necesidades de su familia, amigos y otras personas, incluso antes que las suyas. Gabino fue un padre, hermano y esposo cariñoso con su ex-esposa de 28 años, Alba Flores, aunque su papel más preciado era el de abuelo, conocido cariñosamente como Lelo por sus cuatro nietos Dylan, Liam, Nathan y Melany, con quienes le encantaba pasar tiempo. Llegó a Grand Rapids en 1989 y ha vivido aquí desde entonces. A Gabino le sobreviven sus dos hijos adultos, Seidy y Nahum. También le sobreviven sus hermanos y su familia extendida en Honduras. Además de su profundo amor y devoción por sus nietos y su familia, tenía un profundo aprecio por el fútbol, el baile, la música, particularmente la salsa, el bolero y la bachata. A el le facinaban los juegos de azar. Encontró maneras de ayudar a su familia en Honduras y se enorgulleció profundamente de sus actos desinteresados. La familia de Gabino organizará un homenaje y una celebración de su vida en la Funeraria Arsulowicz Brothers ubicada en 3525 Remembrance Rd NW, Walker, MI 49534 el 11 de Abril de 5 a 7 p.m. En lugar de flores, considere hacer una donación a la familia mediante el método que le resulte más conveniente.
