Mr. Frederick William Mulbrecht

Mr. Frederick William Mulbrecht Sr., age 93, born in Grand Rapids on July 2, 1920, went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 20, 2013. Dad was surrounded by his loving wife and children during his final days. In spirit by his Grandson Jonathan William Campbell. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years, Rose (Maksymowski), children; Fred (Rose) Mulbrecht Jr. of The Woodlands, TX, James (Shirley) Mulbrecht, of Kent City, MI, Dr. Robert (Colleen) Mulbrecht of Santa Clarita, CA, Rosalie (Richard) Barnum of Cedar Springs, MI, Elizabeth (Steven) Scharphorn of Grand Rapids, MI, Mary Jo Cooper of Gowen, MI, Janet (Dean) England of Walker, MI; 16 grandchildren and their spouses and 21 great-grandchildren. Sister in laws Ann Mulbrecht and Jessie Brown including many nieces and nephews. He was proud to be a WW II veteran, serving in the 15th Army Air Corps Division. (Known as that at that time). Working on bomber airplanes stationed in Sicily, Italy. Speaking of such, he enjoyed seeing the planes flying over this passed Memorial Day Parade over the City of Walker. Just hearing them fly over brought back many memories and the conversation flowing. He had also served 3 years in the National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 830 and of the Catholic War Vets Post 1500 that he served as First Vice for many years. In 1985 he retired from Gallmeyer and Livingston as a machinist. Fred was a devoted member and for many years an usher at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Fred always enjoyed his family and the times they shared fishing and boating on Lincoln Lake in northern Kent County. Fred was a faithful Detroit Tiger Baseball Fan. Many thanks to the wonderful Spectrum Health Hospice Staff to be able to assist us in abiding by our father’s wishes to remain in his own home the final days of his life. To Steve Schroeder, the Best Social Worker; to the many nurses, and aides (Ellen Somsel); and the many volunteers (Bev Talbert), Guardian Angels Home Care Professional Phillip Singe; Dr. Peter App and staff for the many years of treatment. Thank You!! A huge Thank You to Sister #5, Chom Empie, for also being a wonderful in-home Caregiver to both parents. To his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, remember: To be strong and thank God for people like Dzia Dzia (Polish for Grandfather) who was a member of "The Greatest Generation" who served our Country so that we could all live in a more peaceful world. "The battles are over, Daddy. May you rest in peace...and thank you for our very lives. As you would always say in closing to our phone calls, “Over and out!" A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal will be celebrated Monday at 10AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, where he will repose one hour prior to the service. The family will receive visitors Sunday 6 to 9PM at the Arsulowicz Brother Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd. NW, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30PM. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
