Eleanor Catherine Rossi (Pattok)

Ellie Rossi, evermore at 95yr, had her long-expressed wish answered early on Monday August 5th, feast day of Our Lady of the Snows, as she went to her eternal home. Eleanor Catherine Pattok was born on the cusp of the Great Depression on March 5th, 1929 in Grand Rapids MI to Frances (Rettig) Pattok and Joseph Pattok. The second youngest of seven siblings, Ellie was preceded in death by: Anne Grinzel, Joseph Pattok, George Pattok, John Pattok of Seattle WA, Rose Ernst of Tacoma WA, and Bob Pattok of Allegan MI. She married the love of her life, Carl G. Rossi on August 23, 1958. He preceded her in death in 2011. Physically impaired from polio from a tender age and told she’d never be able to have children, she ignored this and trusting in God’s Will, she and Carl brought five children into this world. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother is survived by her five children: Mary (Roger) Zoppa, Patrick (Pat – Mrs. Rossi #2) Rossi, Anne (Bob) Click, Charles Rossi, and Paula Rossi. Ellie is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Alan (Melissa) Zoppa, Jamie (Jordan) Wallin, Erin (Ryan) Boone, Philip (Arielle – Mrs. Rossi #3) Rossi, Christian (Cliodna – Mrs. Rossi #4) Rossi, Alexis Rossi and Stacey Papadopoulos, Suzanne (Kyle Tripp) Click, Katie (Cam) White, and Jac (Shelby) Click. Ellie was also a great grandmother to seven beautiful great grand daughters: Landri, Saylor, Fiona, Eliora (“Ellie”), Madeline, Reese, and Parker, and many nieces and nephews. Ellie was a lifelong and founding member of Holy Spirit Parish. She ran the Sunday night Bingo in the 1970s, established the girls’ softball and basketball programs while acting as manager/coach (go Titans!), was a founding member of the funeral lunch committee, and was active in the Altar society and Garden Angels (both of her thumbs were green). Ellie volunteered at St. Ann’s home starting in the 1980s, until Carl’s care required her to pause and take care of him until his death. Ellie chose to move to St. Ann’s in 2017 where she lived, continued to volunteer, and attend daily Mass. And that’s her story and she stuck to it! Ellie’s family would like the staff and sisters at St. Ann’s to know how much they appreciate the loving care received, in particularly during the last chapter of her blessed life. Visitation and rosary will be held Monday, August 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Arsulowicz Brothers (3525 Remembrance Road, Walker, MI). The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 13, at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Church with a one-hour visitation prior from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Fr. Mark Peacock will officiate. Memorial contributions in honor of Ellie may be made to Holy Spirit Parish or St. Ann’s Home.
