Dolores Shea (Sikorski)

Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Friend entered eternal life and was reunited with Norman her beloved husband while surrounded by her family and friends. Dolores graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1941 in the day when girls and boys only mingled at mixers. She met Norman and proceeded to sweep him off his feet for sixty-seven years of wedded bliss. They raised four fantastic children in their one and only home on Innes Street. Candy Robbins, Pat (Kathy) Shea, Sally (Mark) Tidd, Sherrie (Bruce) Johnson. After a working shortly for Union Bank and Old Kent Bank, Dolores realized the best job for her was that of stay-at-home mom. She was famous, at least in her family's eyes, for her chocolate-chip cookies, meatloaf Mondays and fully loaded bean soup. No one was ever hungry with her around. Some of her greatest joys came from her nine grandchildren; Chris (Annie) Robbins; Carrie Van Ostran; Steve Shea, Greg (Christine) Shea, Brian (Marcie) Tidd, Jason (Katie) Tidd, Sarah (Marcelino) Tidd, Kevin Johnson, and Alex Johnson. She adored it when they snooped in her purse looking for the treats she reliably carried for just such circumstances. Dolores wore the coveted title of great grandma to eleven lucky kids who knew exactly where the candy drawer was. She enjoyed time and memories made with her special cousins, Don and Pat Chase, Dorothy Terpening, Tom and Sharon Bilski as well as her cherished friend, Fran Wheaton. Dolores was a lifelong member of St. Isidore's Rosary and Altar Society. However, her greatest lifelong commitment was to her husband Norman who she devotedly cared for until Alzheimer's took him to be her Angel in waiting. While waiting to be reunited with Norman she lived at Heron Manor, tooling around in her Alfred Dunner outfits with a fully loaded walker armed with full-size candy bars, the latest novel, and of course her rosaries. Our family wishes to express how grateful we are to the staff at Heron Manor for their years of kindness and wonderful support, you were so loved by Mom. We'd like to acknowledge Spectrum Hospice whose staff compassionately gave us the reassurance and support we needed. We will celebrate her life with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Isidore Church, Monday at 1:00 PM with a lunch following. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15th at Arsulowicz Brothers Mortuary located at 937 Michigan St NE, Grand Rapids from 2-4 and 6-8 with rosary at 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Spectrum Hospice.
