David Shepard

David Shepard, 72, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on March 26, 2025, in his hometown. Born on July 26, 1952, in Grand Rapids, David spent his life deeply rooted in the community he loved. David dedicated 28 years of service to the City of Grand Rapids, where his commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression. His professional life was marked by reliability and dedication, qualities that extended into every aspect of his personal life. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia Shepard; his sons Jason Shepard (Brandi Shepard), Brian Shepard (Virginia Shepard) and John Hughes; and his grandchildren Alicia Shepard, Marissa Shepard-French (Jonathan French), Tyler Shepard (Jennifer Shepard), Grace Shepard, and Jason Shepard. David also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He also leaves his siblings Doug and Lorrie Shepard, Deb Christopher, Dan and Lynn Shepard; his sister-in-law Karon Shepard, his brother-in-law Jim and Barb Barense. David was preceded in death by his brother Gerald “Dick” Shepard, his sisters-in-law Shirley Beugelink and Barb Flick. Outside of work and family, David found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished summers at Lincoln Lake—fishing, swimming, camping, and enjoying the lake life with those close to him. A devoted golfer and an avid motorcycle enthusiast, David especially treasured time spent riding his Indian Trike. The open road offered him a sense of freedom that he embraced wholeheartedly. David will be remembered for his loving nature, caring spirit, and outgoing personality. His warmth touched many lives and created memories that will be cherished for generations. Isaiah 40:31 The Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held Tuesday April 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW. Dave’s family will receive visitors Monday March 31, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pinegrove Cemetery, Alpine Township.
