It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of Carlo Joseph Geluso, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who peacefully entered the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Born on September 10, 1938, in Grand Rapids, MI, Carlo was the cherished son of the late Christopher and Lena (Di Giovanna) Geluso. Carlo truly embraced life, blending love, laughter, and unforgettable stories into a rich tapestry of memories. His fantastic sense of humor made everyone around him feel special and loved. He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Salvatore, and his sisters, Rose Thorndill and Grace Geluso—who brought him immense joy—and we can only imagine the laughter and stories they are sharing together now. He leaves behind his devoted children: Christopher Geluso; daughter Carla (Geluso) Bradley and her husband Ronald; and son Daniel Geluso and his wife Nicole. Being a grandfather was one of Carlo’s greatest joys; he created countless happy memories with his beloved grandchildren, Huston Rodriguez and his fiancé Chrissy Mohr, Hannah Geluso and her fiancé James Souter, and Carlo "CJ" Geluso. Their laughter was music to his ears, and he had a special knack for keeping them in stitches with his witty stories and playful jokes. Carlo is also survived by his sister, Joanne Cole, who shared many wonderful moments with him throughout life. As a proud veteran of the United States Navy, Carlo served aboard the USS Purdy (DD-734), where he built lifelong friendships and instilled in himself a sense of duty and dedication. His love for his country was matched only by the joy he brought to others. An avid sports fan, Carlo had a passionate enthusiasm for the Spartans, Detroit Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers. Game days were special occasions; you could find him cheering animatedly from his favorite chair, eyes glued to the TV. Celebrating a big play or lamenting a tough loss, he turned every game into a lively family event filled with a lot of food, fun and laughter. Carlo also loved fishing with his children, grandchildren and friends, along with listening to his favorite Golden Oldies. In his youth, Carlo achieved great things—he was a State Diving Champion, a Golden Gloves boxing champion, and an avid bowler. He dedicated more than 40 years to Lear Siegler / Smiths Aerospace, retiring as a lead inspector in 2002. Carlo will be lovingly remembered not just for his kindness, but his remarkable gift for making people laugh—his clever jokes and infectious laughter brightened any room. He always seemed to find humor in even the most ordinary moments, lighting up the lives of everyone around him.
