Bernadette Ann Hoogterp

Our Mother Bernadette Ann Hoogterp, born September 21, 1934, age 86, of Grand Rapids Michigan, went to be with her lord on Thursday, March 4, 2021. Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents: Bernard Hoogterp Sr. and Minnie R. (Watson) Hoogterp; her beloved daughter Teresa Rachel (Doty) Krantz and son-in-law LaForest Lyle Krantz; her precious granddaughters Natalie Rose Knott and Lorna Ann Cecilio; her sister Mary (Hoogterp) LaSarge; and her brother Bernard (John) Hyland. Upon her passing, Bernadette brings to her heart and soul the abiding love and devotion of her 6 children, who will miss her deeply: Susan M. (Doty) Cecilio of Kaleva, MI; Laurie A. (Doty) Knott of Grand Rapids , MI; Mary C. (Doty) Lang and husband Donald Lang of Grand Rapids, MI; Joseph M. Doty of Fountain, MI; Edward B. Doty and wife Angela Doty of Copemish, MI. She also leaves behind her big-hearted brother-in-law Eugene LaSarge ; beautiful sister-in-law Rochelle Hyland; 24 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. Bernadette enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, volunteering at the local library, reading and collecting books, traveling, gardening, going to garage sales with her daughters, singing music and helping at her local church, St. Jude. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Arsulowicz Brothers East Mortuary, 937 Michigan St NE, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Sunday March 14, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday March 15, 2021. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids MI 49525, with Fr. Tom Page as celebrant. There will visitation before the funeral mass at 10:00 am, St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment following the funeral will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, 2530 Kalamazoo Ave SE. PLEASE, for everyone’s safety, Remember COVID -19 Safety Protocol of 6 feet apart, and everyone is asked to Wear a Mask.
