Audrey Ruth Zmudka

Audrey Ruth Zmudka of Grand Rapids, MI waited 88 years to join the Choir of Angels. On Monday July 22, 2019 Audrey went to sing with the Lord. Audrey was preceded in death by son Kenneth and daughter Christine Zmudka Vanden Bosch. Also preceded in death are parents Floyd and Lottie Early, siblings Don (Alice) Early and Lois Early. Audrey is survived by her husband Henry, four sons David, Garry, Robert, and Gregory (Tina), nine grandchildren Elizabeth, James (Becca), Lindsay (Alex), Michelle, Kendra (Justin), Tim, Kara, Danyel, and Josh as well as many nieces and nephews. Audrey graduated from Wyoming Park High School in 1948. She was a voice music major and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1952. While at Western, Audrey met her future husband and the love of her life, Henry Zmudka and have been married for 66 years. Audrey’s life was centered around her faith, her family and her music. She enjoyed sharing her musical talents. She enjoyed countless vacations with her kids and recalling the memories from them. Audrey was a retired elementary vocal music teacher for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. In addition to teaching, she enjoyed singing with the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus for 15 years. Audrey and Henry have been members of the Holy Spirit Parish for almost 60 years. She was active in the Holy Spirit Church Choir for many years, singing and directing. She later directed the Meadow Crest Retirement Community Choristers for 5 years in Crystal River, Florida, where Audrey and Henry spent 21 winters in retirement. Also in retirement, Audrey and Henry travelled extensively in the USA, Caribbean, and Europe. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Church, where she will repose one hour prior to the Mass. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW where the Rosary will be prayed Friday at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org).
