Ashley Katelyn (Lange) McGowan

The Almighty called home one of his absolute best and most beautiful angels on Tuesday, November 15. Ashley (Lange) McGowan unexpectedly went to be with her Lord after a lifetime of health struggles and complications. She would have been 32 years old on Saturday. Ashley was a light in the world. She was the best kind of person; one that you remember for a lifetime. She was genuine, kind and generous. Her warm heart and kindness overflowed from her heart and it contagiously spread to anybody that had the privilege to meet her. Ashley suffered from many health ailments. However, she never allowed them to interfere with her joy or stop her from smiling. Ashley’s faith was unwavering and strong. She was grateful for every day and somehow managed to always help others see the good, even in the darkest days. “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.’ Psalm 118:24 Ashley was the type of person that made you want to be a better person. She was always happy. She loved to laugh and sing. She always gave hugs, hello and farewell, to everyone, whether her best friend or the school bus driver. No one gave better hugs than Ashley. You couldn’t see her without getting at least two. Ashley loved many things. She loved animals and all animals loved her. She loved music, gaming, delicious food and boy, this girl could shop! She loved being with her family and spending time with her nephews. But most of all, Ashley loved her husband, Jeremy. Ashley was fearless facing life’s adventures with Jeremy by her side. Ashley was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kenneth Lange (Elgin, TX), Roman and Theresa Melnik (Oshkosh, WI), her uncle, Karl Melnik (Onalaska, WI), step-father, Phil Roslaniec (Grand Rapids, MI) and dear friend, Brittany Booth (Grand Rapids, MI). Her light and love continues to shine through her surviving family including her devoted husband, Jeremy McGowan (Farmington Hills, MI), her parents, Marianne Melnik (Belmont, MI) and David (Janna) Lange (Ada, MI), her sister and her nephews, Andrea Lange, Charlie & Gus “the bugs” (Ada, MI), her step siblings Ryan Kooi (Kalamazoo, MI), Emily Kooi (Kalamazoo, MI), Molly, Justin (Landon) Back (Grand Rapids, MI), her grandmother, Elizabeth Lange (Elgin, TX), her aunts, uncles and cousins, Denise (Aldo) Lange (Elgin, TX) and Paula (Joe) Gabi, Mitch & Sam Halloum (Austin, TX) and beloved family friend, Estela Perez (Bloomington, IN). Ashley will also be fondly remembered, and her life celebrated, by her husband’s family from Farmington Hills, MI including his parents, Anna & Ray McGowan, brothers-in-law, Gary Sr., David & Martha (Isabelle), sisters-in-law, Sharinna & Matt (Amy) and Cheyenne, Rusty, Dusty & Tara (Ezekiel & Nathaniel), Aunt Carol & Ruthie and sweet fur-baby, Wow-Wee. The family invites you to join them as they celebrate Ashley’s life and birthday and lay her to rest at any or all of the following: Visitation on Saturday, November 19th from 11 am - 1 pm; Arsulowicz Brothers East Mortuary , 937 Michigan Ave, Grand Rapids, MI. Visitation on Monday, November 21st from 10 am - 11 am; Fifth Reformed Church, 2012 Griggs St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI. Funeral Service to follow at 11 am with lunch following. Ashley will then be laid to rest at the Plainfield Cemetery, 6205 Packer Dr., in Rockford, MI at 2:30 pm.
