Mr. Andrew J. VanderHyde

Mr. Andrew J. VanderHyde, age 29, of Grand Rapids went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Andrew will be deeply missed by his wife Anna; his precious children Charlotte, Alana, William, and Felicity; his parents Kevin and Jane VanderHyde; his siblings Carolyn (Steve) Koepke-Roche, Mark (Vanessa) VanderHyde, Kevin (Abby) VanderHyde, Anne Bigorowski, Daniel (Alyssa) VanderHyde, Maria (Tim) Tarasiewicz, Michael (Katherine) VanderHyde, Anthony (Kelly) VanderHyde, Rachel (Brandon) Batdorff; his in-laws David and Sarah Faber; sisters-in-law Katherine (Michael) VanderHyde, Elizabeth (Dominick) Ens, Rebecca (Benjamin) Serra, Regina (Luke) Allen; his grandparents Theresa Gravelyn, Frederick (Erma) Faber, Carla Blandford; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Matthew Koepke. Andrew was the owner of Advanced Sheet Metal, a metal fabrication shop in the HVAC industry and other specialty metal fabrication. His mission statement of “Using our hands to praise God, through the work of our craft” guided him to lead his team with precision and quality. He valued spending time with family up north, where he enjoyed water sports, winter sports, bonfires, and playing cards. Andrew’s "need for speed" lead him to work on and race cars. He also enjoyed hunting and cooking his game. He prayed that God would give him harvest from His fields to provide food for his family. Andrew always put God first in his life. His greatest passion was practicing his Catholic faith and teaching the faith to his children in word and example. He had a special love for the mass and would say, “Sing your heart out to God!” In his short life, he endured much pain and suffering with courage and grace. He taught us all how to suffer well. Andrew prayed that he could carry his cross with a smile on his face and joy in his heart. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday January 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 628 Diamond Ave NE. Andrew will repose at the church one hour before the Mass. The interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following the luncheon. The family will receive visitors Friday January 5, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd.
