Mr. Patrick M. McCormack

Mr. Patrick M. McCormack age 73 of Grand Rapids passed away on Thursday August 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Sara McCormack. Patrick will be lovingly missed by his wife of 49 years Kelly McCormack (White); his children Shannon (Michael) Tarwater and Sean McCormack; his grandchildren Natalie and Wyatt Tarwater; his siblings MaryJane Campione, Bridget (Rick) Chulski, Tom McCormack, Phillip (Annette) McCormack, Joseph McCormack, John McCormack; brothers in law Gunnar (Marilyn) White and Walter (Kathy) White; many nieces and nephews. Pat “redshirted” his third grade year at St. Francis School and later graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1968. He enjoyed the years he played football for the Catholic Central Cougars. After high School he joined the Local 669 Sprinkler fitters where he served his apprenticeship and later became a Journeyman. In the trade for over 50 years, he was a very proud Union member. In the mid 90’s he transferred from local 669 to local 70 which is now Local 174 West Michigan Plumbers Pipefitters and Service Trades. Through his local he served as an executive board member, Vice President and President. He enjoyed volunteering his time for local and state election campaigns. As a proud member of Local 174 he would also volunteer his time for Labor Day Festivities. As a father he enjoyed having his kids play sports, where he would also help coach (or tried to…), getting his daughter involved in basketball and softball, and his son in to hockey and baseball. During his children’s high school years he served as a member of the Union high School Boosters and as an assistant coach for the Union High School Hockey Program. In his leisure time he always enjoyed being around people, meeting new people, creating friendships and relationships throughout his life. It brought him a lot of joy to sit around a table whether it be at the Triangle, Putt Putts, Joeys Tavern or one of the many Westside social clubs he belonged to, where you most likely find him and his friends enjoying each other’s company but still debating the same “Stuff” every day. During the spring summer and fall seasons he enjoyed being on the golf course and giving himself 3 foot putts every time. In all seriousness he was a very social and loving person that cared about family, friends and his union brothers. His proudest moments were walking his daughter down the aisle and welcoming his two grandchildren in to his life. He will always be loved, deeply missed and never forgotten. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday August 16, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 2510 Richmond N.W. where the family will receive visitors Tuesday August 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 am before the Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the Knights of Columbus Council #3104 or Heartland Hospice.
